Busy day of stumping on day before Pa. election

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Pennsylvania’s Republican candidates for governor and U.S. Senate will board an airplane to greet supporters around the state while first lady Michelle Obama and former President Bill Clinton will drop in to help Democrats on the last day before the election.

Events are scheduled in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Allentown and elsewhere Monday. The election is Tuesday.

Voters will decide successors to Democratic Gov. Ed Rendell and five-term Democratic U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter. Some of Pennsylvania’s 19 congressional seats also are closely contested.

With Democrats in control of the governor’s office, Congress and the presidency, the party’s candidates are trying to counter a wave of voter discontent over joblessness and the economy.

PostScript: Project preparation Evolution evolution immediately before our very eyes

Recently, I have observed that $1,990,459 the NSF taxpayer-funded development preparation project said on its Web site a main concern conduct project is that "it is unacceptable that 150 years after the birth of the theory of evolution only four in ten Americans believe that it"!

Although their website expressly stated that a factor of motivation is the low number of Americans who "believe in" evolution, principal investigator of the project, Paul Horwitz, denied that their agenda was to convince people to change. Horwitz told the NABT: "we promote not a belief system... our goal is to help children understand the mechanism of evolution, natural selection if they believe it or not."Indeed, Announces project has again that they have "to teach young children how to model Darwinian natural selection explains the observation that the agencies are adapted to their environment."It sure looks like they want to get the children to believe in evolution.

But it seems that preparation project Evolution is a little shy on recognizing the world that its objective is to young children to believe in evolution.Since I have explained in a blog, expression "it is unacceptable that 150 years after the birth of the theory of evolution only four out of ten Americans believe that it!" has now mysteriously disappeared from their website.

You can still see a cache of Google here containing the original expression, "it is unacceptable that 150 years after the birth of the theory of evolution only four out of ten Americans believe that he"! the Google cache is stored here permanently.

Whether or not they are anxious to "young children" evolution "believe in", it is clear that there is a disconnect between the objectives of the project and its factors of motivation apparently in constant evolution.

Stock futures mostly dip before Bernanke’s speech

NEW YORK (AP) — Stock futures are mostly slipping as traders anxiously await a key speech from Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke and a handful of economic reports.

Nasdaq 100 futures are getting a modest lift Friday from strong Google earnings.

Bernanke’s speech will be closely watched because investors are looking for any further clues on the central bank’s plans to stimulate the economy. Expectations are the Fed will announce a concrete program to buy Treasurys after its next meeting wraps up in early November. But what is not known is how much the bank will spend.

Dow Jones industrial average futures are down 10, or 0.1 percent, at 1,1042. S&P 500 futures are down 1, or 0.1 percent, at 1,172. Nasdaq futures are up 5, or 0.2 percent, at 2,067.
