2 SC women killed on Thanksgiving, found in woods

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Police in Georgia say two young women from South Carolina were shot and killed on Thanksgiving and their bodies were discovered in a wooded area.

Authorities in Richmond County, which shares the state line with South Carolina, are searching for 26-year-old Travis Lorenzo Berrian, but emphasized he is not considered a suspect. They do think he might have information about the deaths.

The bodies of Angela Brooks and Nancy Cushman were found by a passer-by early Thursday. Authorities say the 19-year-old Brooks was from Warrenville, S.C., near the state line, and Cushman was 17 or 18 and also from the area.

The woman were last seen with a man around 12:30 a.m. Thursday. Cushman’s 1999 Cadillac Escalade was found about a mile and a half away from where they were killed.

Aid Watch Thanksgiving Thanks

It’s not commonly known that the most skeptical and critical people usually have a strong sentimental streak…at least if I can extrapolate from introspection….

So here goes for what Aid Watch is sincerely thankful for:

For the largest reduction in world poverty in human history, which has already happened in our generation.

For the largest improvement in health and life expectancy in human history, which has already happened in our generation.

For all those who contributed to these successes: whether individuals operating in private, social, nonprofit, charitable, civic, public, aid, or international realms.

For all?those who helped themselves and those around them escape poverty through their own efforts.

Thanksgiving events, NKorea dominate Obama’s day

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama’s day will focus publicly on Thanksgiving, although North Korea is bound to occupy some of his time.

In the morning, the president will pardon the national Thanksgiving turkey in a ceremony in the Rose Garden. In the afternoon, the first family will take part in a service event in the Washington area.

Sandwiched between those highlights will be an Oval Office meeting with Defense Secretary Robert Gates. North Korea’s artillery attack on a South Korean border island early Tuesday is likely to be a key topic.
